Position Title: Marketing & Communications Internship
Hours Per Week: 20–25
Compensation: $1000 Stipend (Paid upon completion of internship)
Reports to: Marketing & Communications Manager
Job Description: The Marketing & Communications Intern will engage in a number of projects over the course of 12-16 weeks that will introduce them to the daily nature of nonprofit organizations and will support the Development staff with projects and tasks as they develop.
Learning Outcomes:
- To develop a broad understanding and appreciation of the nonprofit sector and the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit professionals.
- To build experience in a professional work environment while gaining experience working independently and in teams.
- To strengthen or build skill sets by utilizing them in a variety of working conditions such as public speaking, managing projects and deadlines, time management and attention to detail.
- If student is seeking this internship for academic credit, additional learning outcomes and requirements will be discussed with student to meet the needs of the course.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with design and production of event materials (i.e. registration sheets, signage, slide shows, etc.) as directed, and general oversight of existing event materials.
- Assist with event logistics including set-up, fulfilling duties as assigned at events, and post-event clean-up.
- Assist with fundraising mailings associated with Cornerstone Society, sponsorship solicitation, etc.
- Update and maintain website content as directed by Marketing & Communications Manager.
- Assist with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram under the direction of the Marketing & Communications Manager.
- Maintain inventory of promotional materials, including brochures, donor stewardship materials, t-shirts, and promotional items, for organization and the three Ronald McDonald Houses.
- Assist Marketing & Communications Manager with coordination of photo shoots, and video editing.
- Assist Marketing & Communications Manager with production of email marketing, including creation and distribution of emails using Blackbaud’s Luminate program.
- Assist Marketing & Communications Manager with public relations duties, including writing press releases, managing media list, and coordinating news and media appearances.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and social media a plus.
- Photography/Videography experience preferred.
- Be able to accept constructive feedback in a professional matter throughout internship.
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in an institution of higher education in a degree seeking program.
- Must be available to work within the required time period during the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, including some night and weekends and must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. and sit or stand for extended periods of time.
